We Will See What's to Come

This super weird road... Just walking... Living the dream.. Bem Vindos ao Brasil Ceara

March 23, 2015

So a few exciting things happened this week... We had two baptisms yesterday... Also I got a call.. I was not transferred (transfers were yesterday) BUT. Now I am a district leader.... I dont even know what to do.. It is a big responsibility, but I know that the Lord has a plan for me, and that He trusts me... I am excited and nervous at the same time... So we will see what happens...

So usually I write down everything that happened this week, but this week I forgot, so I will for sure forget things..

I think this week was the week that I laughe the most on my whol mission... Me and Elder G. Silva are just having a great time together... We are teaching, helping and just having a good time.

We were able to go to a wedding of someone in the ward... Sadly we had to leave right when the bride got there because it was already too late... It was cool to see a wedding and the happiness it brings... And knowing that They can live together forever once they are married in the temple...

So this week didnt rain too much.... but there was one day that was ridiculous..  It actually just happened to be the day of the wedding... So we were with this guy in the ward.. We were going to a referal that he gave to us. then it started to rain a bit... so it was totally normal... it was just a cool little rain... well before too long it started ppouring... We had limitied time so we just kept on going... IT was CRAZY!!!! We were going to this little tiny road... We were in water up to our knees. I have never seen waves of water in the road before... but it happened here... It was crazy... All of my clothes were super soaked.. MY scriptures planner and everything... Thanks rain... haha

WE had some good times this week. We will have more baptisms this next week... I dont remember too many details... Sorry.

LOve you all I am doing well

Elder HAmrick

First baptism in this area. Elder G. Silva baptized Ilana and I baptized Stefania

You could say we got a little bit wet... look at that super clean water after I took off my shoe hahaha

Sad day... The peanut butter is gone

We got a little wet, haha!

Happy soaking wet Elder Hamrick

It's a War, Just Keep Fighting

March 16, 2015

I dont think that I have ever worked so hard in one week before on the mission. We were just going non stop... It is crazy to think that we got into this area with basically nothing to start with. Now we are having a hard time finding time to find new people to help haha.. We have so many already.

This week we were going to have 3 baptisms.. Well something happened and all three fell through.. Thats why I named this its a way... Because Really it is a war. We know who will always win, but we still have to keep fighting our best that we can.

Also I got pretty sick this week... I had a fever of 100.4... haha and guess who still worked the most that I could? ME I worked until like 5:30 It was hard... But we had so many people to pass by I couldnt let the time go to waste... Also I have a sty in my eye... It is super annoying and it was really swollen.. It is getting better though...

It is crazy how fast time is flying... I really dont even understand it... March is basically more than half way over... General Conference is like 2 weeks from now... And my birthday is in two months from today.. How does that work? I am still confused how the time is flying... BUT I AM THE PILOT... well more like the co-pilot... I dont have a whole lot of time left in my mission... I got to make the best of it..

Sometimes I am so accustomed to the language and everything I forget that I am in Brazil.. It is crazy how far away I am from home.. I get reminded every time that I say I am from the US and someone says... WOah thats super far away... I know...

ITS A WAR OUT HERE...

BRazil is having a lot of protests against their president... hopefully this wont interrupt any of our work,

Thats all about it.. I forget to write a lot of details, but it seems like I ahve less and less time every week haha.

Love you all

Elder Hamrick

God Answers Prayers in Different Ways

March 9, 2015

So this week was a little bit of an interesting start. We had P day... then We had a Mission Conference with the whole mission! that was pretty sweet. I got to see a few people that I knew. And I also REcieved a lot of revelation that helped me out. Recently I have just been feeling down about everything.. Just going going and going without really stopping to be happy... But I know that I needed to change. Something about the conference just made me want to change compeletely. SO I did. President Fusco talked about Laman And Lamuel and NEphi.. He asked us who we wanted to be like... Its obvious nephi... But its not the easiest route. HE said that "YOU CAN CHANGE TODAY" and there was my answer.. I love that We have a Living Working Church full of revelation.

Then the day after that we finally solved the problem with the bats... We put a ceiling in our house. It cost us a whole day of work, but it was well worth it... MOst of the houses here just have the tiles of the roof for a ceiling.. But we put in a nice pvc ceiling now... Also I think I really needed that time to get closer to my companion. to get to know him better. We had been working so hard and we really didnt take a moment to stop and just get to know eachother better... So It was an answer to two prayers.

Sometimes it is super hard for me to teach some people here.. sometimes people never went to school. Never studied so their understanding for things is a lot different. Its something I struggle with, but it will get better.

We worked our butts off this week... We had 4 days only to work, but our results were better than any of the other weeks we have had here so far. I believe a lot in the fact of urgency.. But in this urgency we stopped working super effectively. Next week will be better I am sure. We have a lot of people that are getting close to baptism.

So we changed the hour of church this week. NOw its at 4 in the afternoon.. Super weird. But we had a bunch of people planning on going.. And just when they were leaving... IT STARTED RAINING. for me it was nothing.. But for the people here it was like a whole different world.. They couldnt stand it.. So they didnt go to church.. haha.

We were talking with this lady and we taught her and everything and she asked if we were really from here... We said no and said where We are from.. she then said "THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST HONORS OF MY LIFE BEING BROUGHT THE GOSPEL BY SOMEONE FROM SO FAR AWAY" it was super interesting..

also I Told the future this week... There is a soccer team rivalry between CEARA and FOrtaleza. Fortaleza has not won in 13 games... I had a dream the day before the game that Fortaleza was going to win.. GUESS WHO WON. I AM A VISIONARY MAN!

THis week was good. I am amazed how fast the time is flying by... I have 1 year and 1 month on the mission already.. I am going to be home before I know it.

Love,

Elder Hamrick
