Bikes are fun and I still don't know where I'm going

June 23, 2014

So we had quite the bike accident yesterday! Haha here's the story to
start off the email. So me and my companion were riding down this hill.. And this hill is a huge hill (and no it is not that fun to ride up at all actually). So
we are both going pretty fast like we usually do because it is fun. Well I started to notice that my companion was going pretty fast when he got to the bottom. And we had to go up onto the sidewalk then take a decently sharp turn. Well he was going fast and tried to brake a
little bit to slow down to make the turn... Well he used his brakes a little too much. He then continued to flip his bike sideways and fall completely off the bike. Hahaha it was such a funny thing to see. I can literally see it replay in my head and I'm laughing out loud. Haha. So I didn't say are you ok for about 10 second a because I was laughing too hard. What made it funny was that there were a couple cars that witnessed the whole thing. A kid in one of the cars said
"good thing you didn't crash in the road you would've died" hahaha. So ya I went to help him up and his shirt was shredded. Then we had to walk up that huge hill. We then found out that he totally destroyed the seat of his bike. I will send pictures of all these things. It was
a great and funny experience for both of us.

(The hill we ride up on and the hill my comp crashed on)

Alright so now that you all have laughed a bit here is my week.

On p day all we did was sit at the stacked center again. It's funny now that I am not companions with Chevy anymore I miss him. But he is in my zone! And we got to hang out on p day so that was cool. Then that night we had dinner with the faifais. We had it at a high school. There was some banquet going on. It was so weird being back in a high school. High school was a great experience for me. I loved it.

It's awesome when you truly plan to set goals and achieve them how if you work your hardest for them you will achieve them. We achieved a lot of our goals this week, it was a great feeling.

A lot of time this week was trying to fix up bikes. My bike had a gear fall off of it on Monday. So we had to take it to a shop. Then as we rolled up the shop like 3 other things fell off of it. I am so
thankful to have been in the right place at the right time otherwise I would have been in some deep trouble haha.

It is weird to be "just a visa waiter" in a ward. That's what a lot of people refer you as. It is weird, not sure I really like it though. We had an awesome zone meeting this week though. Something I took from it that I really enjoyed is "COME HOME TIRED" that is now my main goal
for my mission and every day I go out and work. It reminds me of the
scripture 4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. (John 9:4) every day I come home from a long day of working and I don't have any more energy to really do much else. I do all the work during the day. It's a cool
scripture that I got something out of.

This week I have realized that I am really not that great of a teacher. I don't teach all that well to be honest. There is a lot of
stuff I need to work on. I can tell you stories, come up with analogies, and all that, but I cannot quote scriptures to save my life. I need to get better at it. But I also realized at church it doesn't matter if I can do all that. I am out here willing to do this work and try to make a difference with people. I may not be the most
spiritual person ever but I care. I truly care about the people I meet out here. This reminds me of a couple other scriptures though.
2 Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve
him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand
blameless before God at the last day.

3 Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;
(D&C 4:2-3)

I was called to the work. I am doing my darnedest to do it well.

So I talked with this member in our ward and he is a chiropractor, but is also some guy who works with energy. He told me that I have hypoglycemia. He told me that it runs in my family and it is a precursor to diabetes. he can do some cool stuff. He also told me that I so t learn well by listening to learn, or just seeing
to learn. He told me that if someone shows me how to do something I
can just do it pretty much instantly. That explains how I play music so well. If someone shows me I can usually figure it out pretty well. We will be going over there today to learn more about how to improve myself in those ways.

There is a lot of work being done here. I am glad to be here.

Love you all

Elder Hamrick
